One of the perks of living in Utah is that natural beauty abounds through the diverse landscapes that exist. With so many places and possibilities it can become overwhelming to choose where to do your couples photoshoot!
Fear not! It’s likely that most places can get you that dreamy photography and that timeless photo you envision.
Below I will list some of the places where I have done outdoor engagement photos and bridal portraits:
Red Ledges Park (Springville, Utah):
This is a great option for those who want the southern Utah backdrop without the commitment of taking a mini road trip there. You will find several trails that lead to the top with breathtaking views (especially at sunset!). You can’t go wrong with engaged pics here!
Directions: Search Red Ledges Picnic Area in Google. To get there, take US-6 east through Spanish Fork and into the canyon for approximately 10.5 miles. Then, turn left at the sign that says “Diamond Fork”. Once you are on this road, continue for about 6 miles until you see the Red Ledges Picnic Area on the left.
Rock Canyon (Provo, Utah):
As a Provo, Utah photographer, I love having this place so close. Not only is this a popular destination for rock climbers in Provo, Utah but the surrounding mountains offer a spectacular backdrop with easy access and to proximity. Undoubtedly, you’re bound to get great outdoor portrait poses and shots.
Directions: Drive past the Provo LDS Tempe along E 2300 N and continue driving up the hill until you arrive to the parking lot.
Tibble Fork Reservoir (American Fork Canyon, Utah):
This is an extremely popular spot; you will most likely share the area with other couples photographers and their respective couples. Nonetheless, its breathtaking views make the sharing worth it. You can get shots along the reservoir and up the hill that is behind the parking lot.
Directions: Take SR-92 to go into American Fork Canyon and follow the road until you arrive to a fork that branches between SR-144 and Alpine Loop Scenic Byway. Then, take SR-144 and follow the road until you arrive to the parking lot. Please note that this location becomes inaccessible during the winter. The SR-92 usually closes from mid-November to mid-March.
Jolley’s Ranch (Springville, Utah):
As you can see, many of these spots are in canyons! It’s hard to go wrong with these types of places when you have beautiful mountains surrounding you. The cool thing about this place is that it features a barn that creates timeless photos and harmony in nature.
Directions: Taken Canyon Road in Springville, Utah and follow along the road until you see the white barn.
Little Cottonwood Trail (Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah):
At last, a location outside of Utah County! With several ski resorts, there are so many locations along the road you can go here that I will just leave you with this general road. A good spot to pull off is on the opposite side of the road where the Lisa Falls Trail Head is located.
Directions: Take SR-210 and follow along the road until you arrive to the Lisa Falls Trail Head. Park in the lot on the opposite side of the road from the Lisa Falls Trail Head. The trail will be below and close to the Little Cottonwood Creek.
Silver Lake (Brighton Resort):
Ski Resorts. Need I say more? This area offers stunning views and great lighting.
Directions: Take SR-210 and follow along the road until you arrive to Brighton Ski Resort.
I hope this list has helped and inspired you! Remember, there are so many more places you can go. Part of choosing your photographer is knowing they have some special locations that they know will work for you. Feel free to contact me for a session, so we can get you started!
